A funeral mass took place July 24 at All Saints Assumption Church, Jersey City, for Juana Nunez, 80, of Jersey City. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on July 19. Juana was born in San Salvador, El Salvador. She immigrated to the United States in 1965 and soon made Jersey City home. She worked in the banking industry specializing in customer service and eventually becoming a manager at Citibank. Juana also had her own tax preparation and notary business. She was an active member of the tenants’ association at Paulus Hook Towers and a parishioner at Assumption All Saints Church. Juana had a big heart, constantly trying to reach out to the community around her and give support and guidance. She was the epitome of strength and the backbone of her family. Juana is survived by her mother Maura; her sister Reina, her sons Omar (Maureen) and Otto (Aretha) and her granddaughters Maura and Alexa, and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Fausto and her sons Fausto and Mauricio. Services arranged by the Michalski Funeral Home, Jersey City.
