QUIRK, GERARD

A funeral mass was offered July 23 at St. Paul of the Cross Church for Gerard “Jerry” Quirk, 64. He passed away at Jersey City Medical Center on July 16. A lifelong resident of the Jersey City Heights, he was a graduate of Dickinson High School and was employed as a mail handler at the U.S. Postal Service Bulk Mail Facility in Jersey City. A collector of vintage Beatle and Elvis memorabilia, Jerry could always be spotted walking on Central Avenue. He was always willing to offer a helping hand to neighbors and friends, whether an errand of some sort or to whisper a quiet prayer on their behalf. A devout Catholic, he was a lifelong parishioner of St. Paul of the Cross Church. He was the son of the late William and Cecilia Quirk; brother of Rosemary DiStefano (Anthony), Carol O’Connell (Robert), Diane Quirk and William Quirk (Susan). Jerry is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
