GAMBA, MICHAEL

A memorial mass was celebrated July 13 at Holy Rosary Church, Jersey City, for Michael Gamba, 62, of Jersey City. He passed away June 27. Born in Jersey City, he was a lifelong resident of downtown and graduate of Ferris High School. Mike enjoyed the simple things in life, football, baseball, hanging out at the old Lakewood Tavern on 7th Street and just hanging out on “the stoop”. He worked for a time as a mover and was certified to repair slot machines. He was predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Lucy and his brother, Stephen. He was the brother of Margaret “Chickie” Walsh Gamba, Mary Foltyn and her husband, Tod and Salvatore Gamba, Jr., uncle of Vanessa and Alan Sheinewald, Michael Foltyn, Tod, Foltyn, Jr., Lisa Walsh, Billy Walsh, Jennifer Walsh, Laurie Ann Walsh and Stephen Gamba. He is also survived by his aunt Josie Mattina and many great nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Grillo Funeral Service, Bloomfield.
