A funeral mass was celebrated July 29 at St. Andrew’s Church, Bayonne, for Louis Angelo Giovanni, Sr., 88, of Bayonne. He passed away peacefully at his residence with loved ones by his side on July 24. Born in Hazeltown Pa., Louis was a US Marine veteran who received the Purple Heart during the Korean War. He was a former commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 5, a commandant of The Bayonne Marine Corp. detachment 191, a former commander of VFW Post 226, a member of The Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 94, a member of The Bayonne American Legion Chapter 19, a member of The Catholic War Veterans Post 1612, member of The Chosin Few N.J. Chapter, a member of The Military Order of the Devil Dogs (M.O.D.D.) and a major contributor to The “Toys 4 Tots” Program. Louis was the father of John, Ronald, Louis Jr. and wife Margaret and Joseph Giovanni and to Cathy Beyer and husband Tim. Louis was also the grandfather to Alexander, Sierra, Jessica, Joseph Jr., Brandon, Kylee, Justin and John and was great grandfather to Skylar. Louis was predeceased by his siblings Joseph and John Giovanni, Frances Visone and Alice Cerbone and surviving him are a host of other family members and close friends.
