GOVIC, MARY

A funeral mass was offered July 27 at Sts. Cyrils and Methodius and St. Rafael Croatian Catholic Church, New York, for Mary Govic, 81, of Union City. She passed away July 19. She was the mother of Sandra Mary Govic and her husband Branko Vrcic;  grandmother of Jonathan and Victoria Presser. Mary grew up in New York City and was the Executive Secretary to the President of Eastern Railroad. Both her husband Vlado Walter and her eldest daughter Rosemarie Josephine predeceased her in 1995 and 2003. She was mother to Sandra and the late Rosemarie. She was devoted to her community and extended family. There was hardly a Croatian organization that she and her late husband Vlado were not a member of: Sts. Cyrils and Methodius and St. Raphael Church and Choir, Kolo Group Kardinal Stepinac, Alma Croatia and Kralj Tomislav CFU Lodge 1990, where she served as former secretary. Mary and Vlado together opened their hearts and home to help their extended family and hundreds of people in need within their community throughout the years. They gave countless hours of their time to help those less fortunate and they did it all with a great big smile. Mary made the most of her life both in good times and bad. She was a kind, generous person who always helped others in need. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
