LOPEN, MARIE F.

Funeral services took place Aug. 7 at Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Bayonne, for Marie F. Lopen, 94, of Bayonne. She passed away Aug. 3. Born in downtown Jersey City, Marie lived most of her life in Bayonne, where she and her husband, Peter Lopen, Sr., raised their family. She was involved in church and school activities and was the ultimate mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to being a homemaker, Marie worked for several years in the cafeteria at Bayonne High School, where former students have fond memories of her. She was also active in the Ss. Peter and Paul Ladies Guild. She was the daughter of the late Frank Scerbo and Concetta (nee: Gariano); wife of the late Peter Lopen, Sr.; sister of William Scerbo and the late Frederick Scerbo; mother of Sandra Lopen Barker and Peter Lopen, Jr. and his companion Michelle Wagner; grandmother of Juliette and Nicholas Barker and their father Robert Barker, and Zachary and Samantha Lopen; great-grandmother of Kai Barker. Services arranged by the Koch Funeral Home, Bayonne.
