Funeral services took place Sept. 7 at Zion Baptist Church, Jersey City, for Minnie Goodson, 90, of Jersey City. She passed away Aug. 31. A life-long resident of Jersey City, Minnie was employed by Maidenform, Inc. located in Bayonne from which she subsequently retired. Minnie was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Jersey City and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Minnie is survived by her children, Esther Goodson Lawz and husband, Derek of Parlin, Bernadette Goodson Funchess and husband Ronald of Jersey City and son Kevin Goodson of Newport News, Va. She will be sadly missed by her ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Minnie is also survived by her sisters, Emma Ruth Wright Moore of Jersey City, Susan Wright Blue and her husband Dr. Daniel Blue of Mullins, South Carolina, Dorothy Snead and husband Willie of Desoto, Georgia and Virginia Chatman and husband Archie of Albany, Georgia. Minnie’s surviving brothers are K. Cecil Wright and his wife Judith of Jersey City, the Reverend Lem Wright and wife Marie of Smithville, Georgia, Lonnie Wright, Bajor Wright, Ronnie Wright of Desoto, Georgia and two step-brothers Jerry Carter and wife Betty of Brown Mills and Gene Carter and wife Constance of Miami, Florida. Also surviving Minnie are her sisters-in-law, Verda Wright and Imajean Wright of Jersey City as well as the families of Solomon King of Jersey City, Jerome King of Lawrenceville, Georgia and the late Henry Williams, Jr. and Harry Williams. Minnie is preceded in death by her parents Eddie and Easter Wright as well as her loved brothers and sisters: Eddie Wright, Jr., Arthur Wright, Johnnie Wright and Shade Wright, Willie Wright and Sonny Wright, Millie Wright George, Mary Joe Ann Byron and Ollie Williams. Minnie also leaves behind a vast extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her warm smile and generosity of spirit.
