The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office identified the names of both the victim and the suspect in a shooting incident which took place on John F. Kennedy Boulevard over the weekend.
At 5:10 a.m. on Sept. 22, the Bayonne Police Department responded to 484 John F. Kennedy Boulevard on a report of a potential domestic violence incident.
When they arrived there, they found Diamond Robinson, the 26-year-old Bayonne resident and victim, who had a gunshot wound and was unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at approximately 5:30 a.m. at the scene.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and Bayonne Police Department conducted an investigation, and arrested a suspect, 28-year-old Jersey City resident Anthony Shuler, on East 21st Street.
Shuler has been charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and violating a prohibition barring him from possessing a weapon.
Shuler was acquitted on homicide charges in 2018, after he was charged with the 2010 shooting of Darren Edwards in Jersey City.
He was imprisoned for eight years while awaiting trial in that case, and it was widely reported that a jury took just over two hours to acquit Shuler of all charges. Shuler spent so long awaiting trial behind bars mostly due to the fact that several other men were charged with witness tampering in connection to his trial.
The case is still under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-915-1345 or to leave an anonymous tip on the Hudson County Prosecutor’s website.
All information will be kept confidential.
