BURKE, GARY MARTIN

Private funeral services were held for Gary Martin Burke, 67, of Jersey City. He passed away surrounded by family and friends on Oct. 7. A true native son of Jersey City, Gary was a 1971 graduate of Snyder High School. He worked Front Service for Hospitality at the Hotel Pennsylvania for over 35 years until retiring in March. Gary loved traveling, restaurants and going to estate sales in search of treasures. Gary loved everything Jersey City and was blessed to realize the dream of owning his unique home which he had dreamed of living in since his youth. He loved that house and like a lion in its den he enjoyed being in his home, listening to his player piano, watching old movies and reveling with friends in front of the fireplaces with wine glasses full to the brim. What Gary loved most though was his beautiful wife of 33 years, Charlene. She was the love of his life, his travel buddy, estate sale companion, best friend and caregiver. Gary was predeceased by his mother Jean; brother Kyle as well as his canine companions Champ, Star, Babe, Dazzle and Wolfie who will be greeting him at the Rainbow Bridge. He is survived by his wife Charlene (nee Sadowski) Burke; father Dale Petrie; brothers Dale Burke and Collin Burke (Dawn); sister Geraldine Nelson; sister-in-law Mawrna Sadowski as well many  friends and relatives. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
