Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced that her office is investigating an alleged sexual assault which reportedly took place in Grove Church Cemetery in North Bergen.

On Saturday, Oct. 26, at 12:20 a.m., the North Bergen Police Department received a report of a sexual assault that allegedly occurred on 46th Street near John F. Kennedy Boulevard. The sexual assault reportedly occurred shortly before midnight on Oct. 25.

The alleged victim, a 23-year-old North Bergen woman, was walking along 46th Street when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown male suspect, was threatened with a sharp object, and then was pulled into the Grove Church Cemetery where the sexual assault allegedly occurred.

The Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the North Bergen Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
