Phil Cohen Asks 5th Ward Voters For Their Vote — Vote 1-E

Dear Editor:

Hoboken has been my home for 33 years.

I moved here in 1986 after I graduated college, to attend Rutgers Law School, and established my career as an attorney. My wife Rebecca and I raised our daughters, Anna 19, and Madeline, 23, from birth to college, right here in our wonderful mile-square City. Hoboken is our home.

I have served as an active, engaged community volunteer in our community. I have served two years on the Rebuild by Design Project Citizens Advisory Board, working on our flood protections that are crucial for the future resiliency of our City and the 5th Ward. I’ve served as Board Chair of my daughters’ school. I’ve served on the Board of the Hoboken Synagogue, the Liberty Humane Animal Shelter, the Planning Board, and eight years as a Zoning Board Commissioner, reviewing development applications and hearing from professionals, community advocates, and concerned neighbors on many late nights as a community volunteer, and been elected by my neighbors as their 5th Ward Democratic Committeeman for more than a decade. Please visit to learn more about my community service and my views on the issues affecting the 5th Ward.

When selecting your councilman, engagement matters. Commitment matters.

I have never run for City Council. I have knocked on more than 2,500 doors introducing myself to you and your neighbors. Now, I am asking you for the opportunity to serve our City as your 5th Ward Councilman. I am asking you for your vote.

On November 5th, Vote 1-E, for Phil Cohen, for New Leadership for the Fifth Ward.

Thank you for your support.

Phil Cohen
