A funeral mass took place Oct. 26 at Holy Rosary Church, Jersey City, for David A. Scalcione, 58. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Oct. 21. Born in Jersey City, David graduated Marist High School in 1979. His brilliant gift for math was displayed as he earned his bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Mathematics and Physics from New Jersey City University. David was the recipient of the Grossnickle Scholarship Award for outstanding performance in mathematics at New Jersey City University. He shared his passion as a Professor of Mathematics at Bergen County Community College. David loved being with family, he was a dedicated uncle and had a special bond with his cousins. David was predeceased by his father Anthony Scalcione. Surviving are his mother Eva (DiPaola) Scalcione; his sister Antoinette, brothers Daniel and his wife Kathleen, Anthony and his wife Susanna, and Vincent and his wife Virginia; his nieces and nephews Antonio, Vincent, Marina, Luca, Leah and Daniel.
