Funeral services were held Nov. 13 at Our Lady of Mercy Church for Dr. Teodoro Parreno, Jr., 80. He passed away Nov. 4 in Jersey City Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Lydilla C. Parreno, three daughters and son-in-laws Geraldine and Roderick Basalatan, Maricon and Thomas Feller, and Ann Marie Parreno. Seven grandchildren Genna Rae, Gabriel and Julian Basalatan, Julia, Thomas Jr. and Sarah Feller and Christian Parreno-Nelke. Three sisters- Grace Ormas, Susan Santisteban, Floserfida Dumancas and multiple nieces and nephews. Teodoro was born in Pototan, Iloilo to the late Teodoro Parreno, Sr. and Ana Maria Parreno. He was the eldest of nine children. In 1963, he received his Doctor of Medicine degree from R.M. Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center University of the East. From 1964-1966 he was in private practice. 1968-1975, he joined Operation Brotherhood as a physician in Vientiane, Laos. He later joined his wife and daughters in Lanham, Maryland in 1975. Teodoro in 1977 entered a surgical residency program in Jersey City Medical Center until he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1980 as a captain. He was first stationed in Loring AFB in Maine and completed his tour of duty in Andersen AFB in Guam as a Major. Teodoro returned to civilian life in 1983 and settled in Jersey City and worked at the Jewish Rehabilitation Center, Jersey City Medical Center and then at Christ Hospital as a house physician and continued his military service in the Air Force Reserves.
