Red alert: SantaCon returns to Hoboken Dec. 7

NJ Transit bans all beverages

You better watch out, you better not cry as this weekend one of the busiest bar crawls takes place in Hoboken: SantaCon.

People dress as Santa Claus, elves, reindeer, or don holiday sweaters, for SantaCon bar crawls in cities across the country, but in Hoboken, last year’s SantaCon wasn’t all merry and bright. Police made 14 arrests, four officers were injured, there were 429 calls for service, 33 ordinance violations, and 32 hospital visits.

Most of those arrested were nonresidents. Charges ranged from disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana to aggravated assault, criminal sexual contact, and one domestic violence arrest.

NJ TRANSIT  issued a press release informing riders that its no-beverage policy will be strictly enforced, prohibiting all beverages on its trains, light rail trains, and buses on Saturday, Dec. 7.

“No beverages of any kind, in any type of container, open or closed, will be permitted on board trains, buses, or light rail vehicles during this time. This policy will be strictly enforced,” states a press release from the agency, noting all beverages, including alcohol, are not permitted on NJ TRANSIT buses at any time regardless of event.
