Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office investigates two-car collision

The Hudson County Prosecutors office is investigating a two-car collision which left a passenger seriously injured on Jan. 10.

According to a press release from the HCPO, Jersey City Police Officers who were on patrol responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Bowers Street and Hancock Avenue in Jersey City on Jan. 10 at about 10:40 p.m.

The officers found two vehicles involved in the collision at the intersection with one woman “sustaining serious bodily injuries.”

The preliminary investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department revealed that a white Infiniti Q50 driven by Jersey City resident Joseph Morales, 32, struck a gold Toyota 4Runner being driven by Jersey City resident Arcenilia Encarnacion, 67.

One of the Toyota’s passengers, a 43-year-old female from Jersey City, was ejected from the car upon collision.

Emergency Medical Services transported her to Jersey City Medical Center where she is being treated for her injuries.

The woman remains in critical condition but is stable, according to the press release.

There were three additional occupants of the Toyota and EMS transported all of them to JCMC for non-life-threatening injuries as was Morales who was also treated and released.

The collision is being actively investigated by the Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department.
