A memorial service was held Jan. 12 for Steven R. Ross of Edison. He passed away surrounded by his family on Jan. 7. Born in Atlantic City, Steve was raised in Jersey City, where he served as an officer with the Jersey City Police Department prior to enlisting in the United States Army. He served in the 101st Airborne Division. For his brave service, he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, Purple Heart, Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Parachutist Badge and Marksman Badge. He served as the Head of the Vietnam Veteran’s Leadership Program New Jersey. Steve was predeceased by his parents, Anna Mae and Irving Ross, and brothers Ronald and Irving Ross, Jr. He is survived by his wife Aida Rivera-Ross; daughter Cristina Rivera ( Victor Donovan); grandchildren: Leandra, Aidan, Leilannie, and Sadie; stepfather George Barthelenghi (Carolyn); stepmother Gloria Ross; sisters Judith Morales and Cynthia lynch; “brothers”: Dan Becht, Paul Bucha, Steve Vitrano, Tom McCann, Jack Bailes, Booker T. Buckhaulter, Marc Williams, Wesley Zane; nieces and nephews: Ronald Ross Jr.; Darryl Ross; Irving Agosto (Ivonne, Adriana and Makyla) Shawn Agosto (Millie, Celeste, Shawn Jr, and Emily; Chardonya Morris and Jasmine Ross (Madison Hodge).
