BURKE, THOMAS EDWARD

A funeral mass was offered Jan. 17 at Sacred Heart Church, North Bergen, for Thomas Edward Burke, 77. He passed away Jan. 11. Thomas was born in Jersey City and moved to North Bergen in 1975. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Marie Burke and a sister Ruth Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen Burke, his son Thomas Burke, Jr. and his wife Andrea Burke of Toms River, and his daughter Theresa Bing and her husband James Bing of North Bergen. Thomas had three grandchildren: Thomas Burke III and his wife Amanda of North Carolina, Darren Dwyer Jr., and Sean Bing, both of North Bergen. Also three step-great grandchildren Xavier, Zander, and Makenna of North Carolina. Thomas is also survived by his sisters-in-law Edna Alfonso of Miami, Florida and Florence Rutledge of Mississippi. Also his brother-in-law Peter Ferderigos of Cliffside Park. Also many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Thomas was employed at Duro-Test Corp. for 39 years and afterwards, the Township of North Bergen for eight years. He was the Republican committeeman in his neighborhood for some years, a longtime member of the North Bergen Traffic Advisory Board, and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose NJ Lodge 848 of North Bergen.
