PURCELL, TIMOTHY T.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated March 4 at St. Nicholas Church.for Timothy T. Purcell, of Jersey City. He passed away on Feb. 28. Tim was a 1966 graduate of St. Peter’s Prep and a 1970 graduate of St. Peter’s College. A Navy and Vietnam veteran, he went on to serve Jersey City as a member of the Police Department from 1976 to 2006. Tim was a member of The JCFOP, Lodge 4, JCPD Emerald Society, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Friendly Sons of Shillelagh, VFW Post 810, and The Elks. Tim was an avid golfer and also loved to “play the horses”. Tim was the husband of Alice (nee Burke) Purcell, brother of the late James and Martin Purcell, brother in law of Rose and Ann Purcell, Heather and Edith Burke and special uncle, mentor and father figure to LisaMarie Burke, Heather Nicole Burke and McKenzy Donaway. Tim is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
