A funeral mass took place March 13 at St. Anne’s Church, Jersey City, for Rosemary Johnston, 78, a lifelong resident of Jersey City. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Rosemary was a paraprofessional with the hearing impaired for 30 years at P.S. 27 Alfred Zampella School, Jersey City. She organized oldies shows with her brother Angelo and sister Alberta at St. Anne’s Church, Jersey City with groups such as: Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge, Larry Chance, The Dupree’s and Vito Picone and the Elegants. Rosemary also loved to cook for the P.S 27 School faculty making special dishes. Rosemary was very devoted to her family and loved her children and grandchildren. Rosemary was the wife of 47 years to Edwin Johnston, Sr.; mother of Vincent Faccone, Edwin and Tara Johnston; grandmother of William Dietsche, Anthony Johnston and Amanda Johnston; sister of Joan Zielinski, Helen Willis, Angelo Stracquatanio and the late Margaret Finlay.
