A growing number of local stores in North Hudson are opening for senior citizens only for specific hours during the coronavirus outbreak.
Most businesses have been ordered closed as a result of executive orders aimed to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
Businesses still open to the public include grocery stores, pharmacies, medical marijuana dispensaries, medical supply stores, gas stations, convenience stores, ancillary stores within healthcare facilities, hardware stores, banks, and restaurants for take-out and delivery only.
On March 25, Gov. Murphy expanded the list to include mobile phone retail and repair shops, bicycle shops only for service and repair, livestock feed stores, nurseries, garden centers, and farming equipment stores.
While those businesses may be open, residents who visit can still contract or spread COVID-19 to other residents even with social distancing and other preventative measures in place. And senior citizens are among the most vulnerable segments of the population.
