MEDEL, HELEN

Private services have been held for Helen Medel, 91, of Jersey City. She passed away at Peace Care St. Joseph’s on March 21. Helen was born in Gioi, Italy, to the late Josephine and Frank Feola. She was the wife of the late Louis A. Medel. Helen was the devoted mother of Judith Maccaro, Margaret Dilling, Gerardine Medel and her husband, James Diamond, John, and Joseph and his wife, Maggie, Medel and the late Louis A. Medel, Jr.; sister of the late Rose Kronyak and Anthony Feola; grandmother of Rebecca, Jaclyn, Nicole, Amanda and Alexis. Also survived by four great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory are many nieces and nephews. Helen was a member of St. Joseph Church in Jersey City and a member of the Hilltop Block Association. She was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Church Choir, and president of the Rosary Altar Society. She also volunteered at the Parish School and was a BINGO worker for many years. In 1999, she was recognized as a Woman of Action by the City of Jersey City because of her contributions to her community. Services arranged by the Mc Laughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
