Funeral services have been held for William (“Bill”) Van Doorn, 95. He passed away March 20 at The Atrium Health Center in Jersey City. Born in Holland, he immigrated to the United States as a young man and became a longtime resident of Hoboken. Bill is survived by his wife of seventy years, Elaine. Bill was also loved and cared for by good friends, Louise Taglieri and Fran Zampella and their respective families for many years. Bill was a proud Army veteran (Air Force Division) during WWII. As a tribute of love for his country, Bill was also a member of the Spirit of 76, marching in numerous parades throughout the state of NJ carrying his beloved American Flag for many years. Relatives and friends will be invited to share in the celebration of the Eucharist at the memorial mass at Our Lady of Grace Church to be announced at a later date.
