WRIGHT, KEVIN LAMONT

A memorial celebration of the life of Kevin Lamont Wright, a.k.a “KEV”, formerly of Newark, and a lifelong resident of Jersey City, will be held at a future date. He passed away Feb. 22. He was preceded by his parents Walter and Ethel (Cookie) Wright, his son TySaun Cousar. He was the brother of Dorene Wright (Kevin), Sheila Holliday (Benjamin). Surviving are his children: son Deon Cousar (NC), daughters Sakina Ponder (Marquis), Kevona Wright (NY); and his grandchildren TyQuse Currence (NC), Sania and Sincere Badger (NJ). Also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Kev worked for several years as a chef for Eataly Flatiron on 5th Ave in Manhattan; cooking was his passion and grits was his favorite. His charm, charisma, and smile were infectious. Kev enjoyed vigorously walking, his bow-legs carried him walking non-stop; never needing a driver’s license because his feet was his wheels. Kev looked forward to his intimate birthday dinners with his sisters. His grandchildren will forever and a day cherish the times on his days off that he will come and enjoy their favorite meal together seafood delight and their snack dill pickles.
