On April 25, at about 1:08 p.m, Officers Wilfredo Gomez, Nathanial Arocho, and Cynthia Rivera, responded to Sunshine Deli and Grocery at 240 Garden Street on an employee who was threatened with scissors by a customer, according to a press release from the Hoboken Police Department.
As the officers arrived, they saw a man walking north from said location matching the description they were given.
The man then allegedly started to run and Officers Arocho and Rivera pursued the man.
As they tried to catch up to the man, Officer Gomez entered the store and conducted an investigation.
Officers Arocho and Rivera were able to catch up to the man later identified as Hoboken resident Victor Colon, 35, in the area of 209 Fourth Street.
Officer Gomez confirmed that Colon was the man involved in the dispute at Sunshine Deli.
The store employee informed Officer Gomez that an argument started between him and Colon, which carried outside and then back into the store.
During the argument, the victim stated that Colon allegedly made threats against his life and allegedly brandished a pair of scissors with red handles.
Colon allegedly had a pair of scissors with red handles in his possession.
Upon placing Colon under arrest he allegedly resisted and Officer Rivera sustained minor injuries while gaining control of Colon.
Colon was transported to headquarters and processed.
Officer Rivera was provided medical care and returned to full duty with no restrictions.
Colon was charged with Terroristic Threats, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Resisting Arrest, and Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.
All charges went on a warrant.
Colon also had a warrant out of Union City.
He was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility and is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
