CARROLL, RUTH

Private funeral services have been held for Ruth Carroll Ruth (Catt) Carroll, of Jersey City. She passed away peacefully at home on April 29. She had just celebrated her 97th birthday. Born in Jersey City, Ruth was a lifelong resident. She married Vincent T. Carroll in 1947 and then began welcoming every one of her seven children with joy. She was always busy with some project and then right on to the next. It was like a second breath when the grandchildren started coming along. There were sleepovers, playing school and swimming in the pool. She enjoyed gardening, shopping for deals at the mall, and spending time with her loved ones. Her greatest joy was her family and she would always ask what holiday was coming up and then start planning the next get together. She was well known in her neighborhood, as you could often find her sweeping, planting or cleaning something in front of the house and talking with passerby’s. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Vincent, and her son, Mark V. Carroll. She is survived by her children Michael Carroll and his wife Debra, Sharon Guarini, Kathleen Carroll and her fiancé Michael DiDonato, Eileen McBride and her husband William, David Carroll and his wife Joyce, Vincent Carroll, as well as eight grandchildren. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic and CDC guidelines, all services were conducted privately. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City. A memorial service will take place at a future date.
