Funeral services have been held for William C. Hurley, 89. He passed away May 20. A lifelong resident of Jersey City, Bill was born to the late Maryann and William Hurley. A graduate of Holy Family Academy ’49. A Disabled Veteran, Bill served in the US Marine Corps. during the Korean War. He was a retired longshoreman, spending most of his career at the Bayonne Military Ocean Terminal. He was an avid NY Yankee and NY Giants fan. A former thoroughbred horse owner, Bill enthusiastically followed thoroughbred horse racing. Bill enjoyed taking family trips to his home in Cape Cod, to Saint Maarten, Saratoga and spending quality time with family and friends. Bill would meet up with buddies for coffee every morning to solve the world’s problems. He had a quick wit, was always ready to have a good conversation on current events or sports. Bill always left you with a smile on your face or a pain in your belly from a hearty laugh. He was husband of 33 years to Holly Marenna Hurley, formerly of Bristol, CT. He was father of Kathleen Hurley of Bayonne, John Dennis and wife Heather of San Francisco, CA, and Brian Dennis and wife Kimberly of North Bergen, Megan Hurley and partner Bobby Moriggia of Newark.  grandfather of Blair Stanul, Devan Dennis, and Mathias Dennis. Brother of the late Sheila Justich, Michael Joe Hurley, Mary Bergin, and Sr. Margaret Hurley, SSJ. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins here, in Ireland and Australia. Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home in Jersey City.
