A late night accident in North Bergen has left some structures in the area heavily damaged. According to Mayor Nicholas Sacco, a North Bergen Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA) garbage truck crashed into two homes.

“Last night there was an unfortunate accident on 51st street involving a North Bergen MUA garbage truck and two private residences,” Sacco said.

Despite the destruction on 51st Street, no major injuries were reported.

“Many of the details about how this happened are still unknown, but one thing we can confirm is that everyone is OK, and there where no major injuries,” Sacco said.

The cause of the crash has not been determined.

North Bergen Police Department, North Hudson Regional, North Bergen EMS, North Bergen Building Department Inspector, North Bergen OEM coordinator, NB CARES coordinator, and the Director of Sanitation were all on the scene. Sacco said they were able to swiftly assess the situation and help all the residents.
