Private funeral services have been held for Jacqueline Underwood, 82, of Jersey City. She passed away on May 24 at Jersey City Medical Center. Jacqueline, also known as Jackie, was born in Jersey City to Frank and Vernetta. She married Barry Underwood and was happily married for 53 years. Jackie was educated in the Jersey City school system and graduated from Dickinson High School. She went on to work for CT Corporation in New York City as a Computer Operator Supervisor. After more than 25 years, she retired from that position. Her love for children inspired her to work for JR Corporation as a transport driver. Later, she retired from this position also. Jackie was a proud member of the St. Michael’s Methodist Church. For many years, she was a faithful steward and president of the Usher Board. She also had a very ambitious and energetic personality. When she set her mind to do things, they got done! Jackie was always on the go, traveling to many states, countries and various places. She had a full life. Jackie is predeceased by her parents Frank and Vernetta Martin, sister Vivian Gaynor and her only daughter Linda Morrison. She is survived by her husband Barrett Underwood, son Mark Underwood and wife Ebony, grandchildren Jared Morrison, Lashonda Jackson and husband Terence, great grandchildren Desiree and Laila, nephew Darin Gaynor and wife Terri, Darin Walker, nieces Jade Gaynor, Taylor Washington, Son-in law Billy Morrison among a host of relatives and friends.
