Three residents have been left temporarily without an apartment after a small kitchen blaze.
At 1:42 p.m. on July 5, Bayonne firefighters responded to a reported smoke condition at 458 JFK Blvd., according to Deputy Fire Chief Bill Bartos.
Responders found smoke coming from a third floor apartment in the four-story apartment building. Firefighters used one handline to extinguish the blaze.
The fire was contained in the kitchen area of the apartment, which was unoccupied at the time of the blaze. The fire was declared under control at 2:16 p.m.
The Building Department responded and determined that the fire apartment would be uninhabitable until repairs can be made. However, all other occupants were allowed to return to their apartments.
The Bayonne Office of Emergency Management and the Red Cross provided assistance to the three displaced occupants of the fire apartment.
