A Mass of Catholic Burial was offered July 14 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Hoboken, for Helen Balletta 85. She passed away on July 7 peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Gennaro “Jerry” and her daughter Caroline Rose Balletta. A lifelong resident of Hoboken. Helen had fun working in Hostess Bakery back in the sixties and later on in life she worked for the Hoboken Board of Education, enjoying cooking and serving lunch to the students in our Hoboken School system; especially the young children in Connors Elementary School. In 1993 Helen and Jerry moved into Columbian Arms as superintendents helping to make it a warm and friendly community. She is survived by her son, Salvatore and his wife Regina, daughters Caroline Calligy and Geri Subjinski and her husband Stan, four grandchildren, Jonathan Calligy, his wife Ashley, Alyssa Balletta, Jeremy Subjinski and Gennaro Balletta, two great- grandsons, Matthew and Leo Calligy and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her dog, Zoe. Services arranged by the Failla-McKnight Memorial Home, Hoboken.
