JONES, CRYSTAL LAMANNE

Private funeral services have been held for Crystal Lamanne Jones left her dwelling place here on earth July 3, bound for her new celestial home, Heaven. Crystal was always a spirited soul with a luminous smile. She was born and raised in the Lafayette section of Jersey City. She attended Assumption-All Saints School, St. Anthony’s High School and College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown. Crystal spent several years after college working on social change issues and non-profit organizational development in the Washington DC Metropolitan area with organizations including: The National Political Congress of Black Woman; People for The American Way; Emily’s list; AIDS PAC; Democratic National Committee; National Woman’s Health Network, and many others. Crystal lived in Minnesota for over a year working on the Clean Water Act and returned to Jersey City to pursue a professional career in Management and Executive Administration. Crystal advocated for the Neighborhood she grew-up in. Her pride and joy was starting Urban Angels, a day care center and after school program that catered to children of all backgrounds. However, there was no greater love than the love she shared with her children. Crystal is survived by her two children Christian Lamont Jones and Cantara Lassiter Jones, her mother June Jones-Hawkins (Sammie Hawkins) and a host of other relatives, friends and co-workers.
