NOVI, PIETRO A. 

Funeral mass was held July 17 at SS Joseph & Michael Church, Union City for Pietro A. Novi, of Union City. Born in Pomigliano D’Arco, Italy in 1942, passed away on April 29. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Virginia (nee Brogna) and his l daughter Carmela Novi and son-in-law Salvatore Vito and son Luigi Novi; and adoring grandsons Salvatore Vito III and Matthew Peter Vito. Also survived by his  siblings Maria Novi and Giovanni Novi and brother-in-law Enrico Maglione; sisters-in-law Angela Novi; Margherita Brogna and Diamante Dello Iacono; and  cousin Carmela Venezia. Predeceased by  parents Carmela and Luigi Novi; brothers-in-law Antonio Brogna and Rafaele Dello Iacono and sister-in-law Grace Brogna. Further survived by many l nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins and friends, both in the United States and abroad. Pietro emigrated to the US in 1968 and grew to love his adopted country while his Italy, its literature and music and soccer, remained forever in his heart. A retired CNC machinist with an easy smile, love of good food, laughter, and the company of his loved ones. In retirement he dedicated his time to teaching Italian at the Dante Aleghieri Society in Jersey City and to watching his grandsons play soccer.
