A Bayonne man was arrested on July 31, after allegedly attacking a security guard with a knife, according to the Bayonne Police Department.
Saladin Blunt, 48, was taken into custody at 8:34 p.m. from the area of 23rd St. and Broadway, police said.
Officers responded to the Bayonne Medical Center Emergency Room on a report of an assault in progress involving a security guard who was cut with a knife allegedly by the other party.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the actor, later identified as Blunt, had fled. The officers then met with the security guard, who was being treated for an injury to his ear.
According to the security guard, after Blunt was discharged from the ER, he was ordered to leave the premises. Blunt exited the hospital but positioned himself directly outside the ER double doors, acting belligerently toward patients and staff.
The security guard exited the hospital and ordered Blunt to leave the area. Blunt complied by walking south. As the security guard turned his attention to another patron needing assistance, Blunt returned and approached the security guard from behind.
As the security guard turned around, Blunt struck the victim twice in the face with a closed fist and slashed him across his ear with a pen-
Blunt then fled the scene and was apprehended by responding officers several blocks away on Broadway. The knife was never recovered.
During the arrest process, it was learned that Blunt was also wanted on a warrant issued out of the Bayonne Municipal Court.
Blunt was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
