Outdoor dining event on Broadway set for August 12

Presented by the Bergen Point Merchants' Association

With New Jersey stuck in Phase 2 of reopening amid the COVID-19 pandemic due to an increased rate of transmission, small businesses continue to struggle to stay afloat.

To help local eateries and mom-and-pop restaurants, some municipalities have began closing streets to allow for more outdoor dining space.

Small restaurants have been dealing with a substantial reduction in customer capacity with the shift to outdoor dining only.

Maskarade on Broadway

The Bergen Point Merchants’ Association has put together “Maskarade: Outdoor Dining and Entertainment.”

The association focuses on preserving and promoting the commercial interests of businesses on Broadway between 8th and 4th Streets.

Broadway will be closed off from 5th Street to Silver Street starting at 5 p.m. on Aug. 12.

Restaurants along the closed-off section will expand seating into the street.

Residents are also encouraged to shop at stores on Broadway.

The Bayonne City Council approved a resolution authorizing the street closure at the July 15 meeting.
