Jersey City woman in custody in Bayonne

Johnasia Melvin, 21, from Jersey City, was taken into custody around 10 p.m. on Aug. 21 at  55th St. and Ave. C and charged for various narcotic offenses. More than $2,000 in alleged narcotic sale proceeds were recovered from her person, police said

She was charged with possession of fraudulent government documents after two fraudulent NJ driver’s licenses were recovered from her person.

Apply for the Eviction Prevention Program 

Applications for the Hudson County Eviction Prevention Program will be available from Aug. 24 through Sept. 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Register via smart phone, tablet, or computer. You must:

  • be a Hudson County Resident
  • show the need for rental assistance is due to COVID-19
  • have been current on rent as of March 1, 2020
  • document ability to pay rent after assistance is provided
  • household income must fall below required limits

PSE&G to reimburse customers 

PSE&G will reimburse residential customers up to $250, and commercial customers up to $5,000 for food spoilage if their service was interrupted for 72 hours or longer between Aug. 4 and 12 because of Tropical Storm Isaias.

The Small Business Administration is providing guidance for borrower and lender questions concerning the forgiveness of the Paycheck Protection Program loans under the CARES Act.
