The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit arrested and charged a 22-year-old  man with the murder of Marquise Davis, 26, who was found in a Hoboken apartment on Aug.7.

According to the HCPO, police arrested Tahjae McDougald, of Willingboro, at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City when he turned himself in with his attorney.

McDougald has been charged with Murder, a first-degree crime; Possession of a Weapon (firearm) for an Unlawful Purpose, a second-degree crime; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (firearm), a second-degree crime.

On Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, just after 10:30 p.m., members of the Hoboken Police Department responded to an apartment at 300 Grand St. on a report of a deceased male.

Responding officers found the victim, a 26-year-old Willingboro man, later identified as Davis, with apparent gunshot wound(s) to the upper body.

Davis was pronounced deceased at 10:52 p.m. at the scene of the shooting.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the abdomen and the manner of death to be homicide.

Prosecutor Esther Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, the Hoboken Police Department, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the Willingboro Police Department, the Pemberton Police Department, the Westampton Police Department, and the Philadelphia Police Department for the investigation and arrest.

The above charges are merely accusations. McDougald is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
