Man charged in Hoboken homicide

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit charged Tahjae McDougald, of Willingboro, 22, with the murder of Marquise Davis, 26, who was found in a Hoboken apartment on Aug.7.

Police arrested him on Aug. 20, at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office when he turned himself in with his attorney.

The murder and weapons charges are merely accusations. McDougald is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Jersey City priest arrested 

On Aug. 14, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Donato Cabardo, 56, of Jersey City in connection with alleged sexual crimes that occurred in the rectory at St. Paul of the Cross Church in Jersey City where Cabardo is a diocesan priest.

Cabardo has been charged with Criminal Sexual Contact and Harassment for allegedly touching the breast and buttocks of an adult for the purpose of sexually arousing or sexually gratifying himself, and other sexual contact.

New hours in North Bergen libraries

The main library, Kennedy Branch, and Guttenberg Resource Center will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Jersey City mayor honored 

The North Jersey Jewish Business Alliance presented Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop with the Excellence in Leadership Award on Aug. 19.

The award commends him for calling the December 10th shooting a hate crime, and responding adeptly to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In-person assistance will be offered at 4225 Bergen Turnpike on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hours for seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

PSE&G to reimburse customers 

PSE&G will reimburse residential customers up to $250, and commercial customers up to $5,000 for food spoilage if their service was interrupted for 72 hours or longer between Aug. 4 and 12 because of Tropical Storm Isaias.
