Register for Special Needs Soccer 

The four-week academy is open to Bayonne residents ages 3 through 21, who are mentally and physically challenged.

It will run Oct. 3, 10, 17, and 24, weather permitting, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Veteran’s Stadium.

Salmonella warning for onions

The Bayonne Food Bank has issued a salmonella warning regarding onions that were distributed on Thursdays between May 8 and July 5.

These onions should be discarded. Disinfect surfaces that came in contact with them.

Register for Fall Skate Camp 

A Fall Skateboarding Camp will be held every Saturday in October, from 9 to 10 a.m.; 10 to 11 a.m. ; and 11 a.m. to noon at the 1st Street Skate Park.

Register Sept. 19, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the skate park. Register at City Hall, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fee is $50 per participant.

Police exposed to PCP 

Two Jersey City men were arrested after a traffic stop led to the exposure of three police officers to PCP on Aug. 20, according to the BPD.

Nyqwan Sims and Javon Workman were taken into custody at 52nd St. and Broadway.

Sims allegedly reached into his waistband, removing an uncapped bottle of PCP, allegedly throwing it to the ground, where it splashed on the officers.

Sims was charged with assault and various drug offenses. Workman was charged with possession of 50 grams or less of marijuana.

They are both presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Bridge jumper foiled

On Aug. 24, New Jersey State Trooper Nicholas Corvino rescued a man attempting to jump from the bridge on the Newark Bay Extension.

At 8:04 p.m., Corvino observed a 19-year-old man sitting on the concrete ledge.

Corvino convinced the man to step back onto the roadway and escorted him to his trooper car.
