Lutheranism defined: God’s Work. Our Hands

For three Lutheran churches in southern Hudson County, these words mean action. On Saturday, September 12, as a part of a national church (ELCA) weekend of service, Grace Lutheran, 836 Avenue C in Bayonne, Redeemer Lutheran, 37 Warner Ave., Jersey City, and Trinity Lutheran, 195 Claremont Ave., Jersey City will open their doors (their parking lots) to the community in providing food and new and used clothing during these trying and difficult times.

This labor of love has been a group effort by these three parishes (Liberty Lutherans) to unite programs and services around community needs. “The response has been tremendous by both corporate and individual donors,” Pastor Gary Grindeland commented, who oversees the three churches. “We are really stronger together, and donors want to see this kind of cooperative spirit in any community and especially in the church.”

The events will begin at noon at all three sites. There will be refreshments
