Mayor Jimmy Davis has announced that a “Dine Out and Shop Out” event will be held on Broadway in September.
“Dine Out and Shop Out” has been scheduled for Thursday, September 24, from 5 to 10 p.m.
Broadway will be closed to traffic from 18th to 25th Street to accommodate the event.
Participating restaurants will set up tables, chairs, and tents on the street. Participating stores will have sidewalk sales.
The event will feature live music. Additional details will be announced.
To allow for event setup, the street closing on Broadway will start
at 4 p.m. on September 24. Broadway will be closed until 11 p.m. that night to provide time to remove dining furniture and equipment from the street.
No parking will be allowed on Broadway from 18th to 25th Street from 4 to 11 p.m. to provide space for dining and retail sales. Parking will be available in the nearby lots off Broadway operated by the Bayonne Parking Utility.
Support local businesses
The event organizer is City Council President Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski.
“The Dine Out and Shop Out Night in the Second Ward will build on the success of the recent Maskerade event in Bergen Point in the First Ward,” she said. “We are expanding the night-out concept to other areas of town and promoting business in all parts of Bayonne.”
Ashe-Nadrowski continued: “These special events are all about supporting local restaurants and small businesses during this trying time.”
“I would like to thank Council President Ashe-Nadrowski and all participating restaurants and retail businesses for planning this great event,” Davis said. “We should all do whatever we can to support our local small business community.”
In the event of inclement weather, the rain date will be Friday, September 25, with the same hours and street closing details described above for September 24.
The “Dine Out and Shop Out” event will observe the mask requirements and social distancing guidelines established by the State of New Jersey.
