'Tis the season to be scary.

Mayor Nicholas Sacco and the Township Commissioners are pleased to announce a Halloween Home Decoration Contest for North Bergen residents.

All residents are invited to participate by dressing up their homes in their “Halloween spookiest.”

Residents may submit photos, their addresses, and their contact information to CommunityAffairs@NorthBergen.org or call 201-392-2000 to join the competition.

Three winners will walk away with a prize. The deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 21, at midnight.

Costume giveaways

The Township is also helping families in need of costumes to celebrate Halloween.

On Tuesday Sept. 29, from noon p.m. to 5 p.m., North Bergen will be giving away Halloween costumes to families in need, according to Mayor Sacco.

The distribution will take place on the softball field near the recreation center. The rain date will be September 30th.

Due to limited sizing and styles, children must be present along with proof of residency. First come first served.

Masks and social distancing are required.
