Going gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Though September is now over, children with cancer are always a sad reality. Mayor Jimmy Davis issued a proclamation declaring September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Bayonne.

Man shot numerous times
Police are investigating the shooting of a man, 38, shot numerous times near West 28th Street, according to Captain Eric Amato.
The actor fled the scene, and the victim was treated at Bayonne Medical Center.
According to Amato, more details will be released at a later time.
Firefighters extinguish Broadway blaze
On Sept. 19, firefighters took 15 minutes to put out a blaze at 423 Broadway, a one-story commercial building, with no injuries reported, according to the Bayonne Fire Department.
Fire Chief Keith Weaver said the quick response kept the fire from spreading into a larger building.
One family was temporarily displaced.
An investigation is underway.
Leaf recycling begins
Curbside pickup of autumn leaves will take place on ten Mondays, October 19 to December 21, starting at 6 a.m.
Special ecology-friendly leaf bags may be used, in barrels, or in paper bags. Plastic bags will be rejected.
Beginning October 5, bags can be picked up at the front doors of city hall, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays.
“Leaves” means foliage only, no grass clippings, hedge clippings, tree parts, shrubbery, or vegetative waste.
