The Coffee With A Cop event was set to take place at the 16th Street Park on Oct. 7, including a discussion with police officers from all ranks and several divisions.

Although there were safety measures in place, according to Geisler, he felt that the best course of action is to cancel the event on Wednesday and reschedule it for a later date.

“I made this decision with the health and safety of our community and the health and safety of our police offers as my priority,” Geisler said. “I am disappointed that this event is cancelled. This is an event that I, the members of the Bayonne Police Department, and members of the community have been looking forward to.”

Geisler said he “looks forward to a time when we can all meet again without the threat of contracting COVID-19.”
