Man dies in accident at Bayonne Dry Dock

Firefighters respond to an industrial accident on Oct. 4.

First Responders were called to the Bayonne Dry Dock at the eastern edge of the former Military Ocean Terminal at Bayonne (MOTBY) at approximately 9:11 a.m. on Oct. 4. for an industrial accident.

Personnel found a worker with traumatic injuries, according to a statement by Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver.

Bayonne firefighters and McCabe Ambulance medics performed CPR on the worker before transporting him to Jersey City Medical Center.

The man later died from his injuries. The Port Authority Police Department is handling the investigation.

Weaver, who also responded to the scene, expressed his condolences to the family and coworkers of the deceased.

Weaver expressed his thanks to all responders, including the Bayonne Fire Department, Bayonne Police Department, McCabe Ambulance EMS, Jersey City Medical Center ALS, and the Port Authority Police Department, who “worked valiantly in an attempt to save the man.”
