On Oct. 7 at approximately 9:53 p.m. Jersey City police officers on a nearby fixed post heard shots fired from the area of 192 Danforth Avenue. Simultaneously while transmitting, the officers saw three men fleeing the scene.
The JCPD’s Street Crimes Unit located the three suspects within minutes.
The men allegedly ran but were apprehended by the officers shortly thereafter.
Jersey City residents Shakeem Clarke, 21, Jawon Lesuer, 20, and Newark resident Quinzelle Venable, 18, were arrested.
Three handguns were recovered by the JCPD, allegedly in the men’s possession.
A 55-year-old male victim was treated on the scene for undisclosed injuries.He refused further medical attention.
Clarke, Lesuer, and Venable were each charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon/ Handgun, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose/ firearm, Resisting Arrest, and Causing or Risking Widespread Injury/ Damage.
Clarke was additionally charged with Possession of Prohibited Weapons & Devices Dum-Dum/ Body Armor, and Possession of Prohibited Weapons/ Devices –Large Capacity Ammo.
Clarke, Lesuer, and Venable are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
