The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is investigating a shooting death at Lafayette Park, according to a press release from the HCPO.
On Friday, Oct. 9, the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Van Horne and Maple streets in Jersey City.
Responding police officers found an unresponsive man with an apparent gunshot wound near the gazebo in Lafayette Park.
The man, later identified as Teyan Grant, 47, of Jersey City was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:45 p.m.
The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The prosecutor’s office homicide unit is actively investigating with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
