A funeral took place oct. 2 for for Sherwood Vaughn, who was affectionately known as Woody. He passed away September 25. He was born in Jersey City to the late Richard and Lillie Mae Vaughn. Woody completed his education at Henry E. Harris grammar school, Bayonne High School and Jersey City State College. He later attended William Patterson University graduating with a degree in criminal justice and sociology. Woody married his high school sweetheart Felicia Glover and enjoyed almost 50 years of love and devotion with her. Woody served as a Passaic police officer where he was affectionately known as “Officer Friendly,” retiring in 1995 as a sergeant. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Felicia, son Justin Vaughn, daughter Jennifer Vaughn, grandchildren Dominic and Jasmine Vaughn , brothers Moses Haynesworth (Evelyn), Richard Vaughn (Beverly), Joel Vaughn (Joyce), Sisters Earnestine Primus, Loretta Jones (Ellsworth Sr.) brothers -in-law Frazier Glover (Virginia), Kenneth Glover (Deltra), Dennis Glover , Eric Glover, sisters-in-law Jeanette Nelson (Lawton) , Kathy Reynolds and Wendelin Glover, lifelong friends LeRoy Diggs, Paulette Craddock, Dorothy Calloway, Edward Mulligan, Cynthia Glover, Kysen Hicks, Charles Lombardy, “Special Hero”, Darius Glover and a host of family and friends too many to mention.
