State Assemblywoman Angela McKnight tested positive for COVID-19 this week.
According to the assemblywoman, her positive test comes after her daughter tested positive.
“Early Monday morning, my daughter Ana’jah was not feeling well to the point where we made the decision to take her to the hospital,” said McKnight on Facebook Nov. 10. “Later that day, we learned she was positive for COVID-19. My family and I were all tested, and today I was informed that I too have tested positive for COVID-19. I am currently quarantining at home as I have symptoms and need to rest. I have begun the contact tracing process to notify everyone who I have come into contact with.”
She said she and her family have taken measures to mitigate the spread of the virus, including wearing masks in public and social distancing.
“The reality is the number of cases in our state are drastically rising, and we have to do all we can to stop the spread,” she said.
In New Jersey, 263,495 people have tested positive for the virus since the start of the pandemic, and 14,676 people have lost their lives as of Nov. 11. The rate of transmission is 1.27 at the time of this writing.
In Hudson County, 282 people tested positive on Nov. 11, increasing the county’s total to 25671 since the pandemic’s start. A total of 1,382 Hudson County residents have died due to COVID-19.
“A second wave of the pandemic is here as COVID-19 cases have surged in our state to the highest levels since April,” McKnightsaid. “I urge everyone to continue to take the necessary precautions to remain safe and healthy. We have to be vigilant and fight this virus.”
She said she and her family will continue to quarantine for 14 days and thanked well-wishers for their prayers on Facebook.
