Funeral services were held Oct. 30 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Jersey City, for Agnes Henrietta Carter, 72, a longtime resident of Jersey City. She passed away Oct. 20, at the Runnells Rehabilitation Center. Henrietta was born Oct. 4, 1948, in Dennison, Ohio, to the late James Walter and Lucille Spriggs. Ms. Carter was a strong, determined woman intent on making the best life possible for her and her children. While working multiple jobs she received her associate degree. She retired from Verizon after rising through the ranks to a management position, while also working for Macy’s, as Henrietta had a love for fashion. Her hard work and perseverance paid off by enabling her to educate and support her children. Henrietta is survived by her son, Chauncey Carter (Jocelyn); her grandchildren, Daris McClary, Maurice and Alease Miles and Camille, Chandler, Jaden and Caitlin Carter. She was predeceased by her daughter, Shawndale Miles; two sisters, MaryAnn Williams and Margaret Spriggs, and two brothers, Samuel and Louis Spriggs.
