Funeral services took place Nov. 4 for Genevieve Dillon, 85, of Toms River, formerly of Jersey City. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members, on Oct. 30. Genevieve was born to the late John and Frances (Alfonse) Montanaro on January 3, 1935, in Jersey City, where she resided for most of her life before moving to the Jersey Shore. Genevieve worked hard her entire life and retired from Porky Products as a bookkeeper in 2010. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who always enjoyed being social and entertaining. She never needed a reason to spend time with friends and family. Her love for her family was nearly equaled by her love of travel and the theater. Genevieve was a world traveler who visited most all of Europe, parts of Asia, the U.S. and Canada. Her extensive collection of Playbills and posters lined the walls of her home. Genevieve was never one to sit still, always planning the next trip. She was a one-of-a-kind grandmother who never shied away from playing with and doting on her grandchildren or taking them with her on one of her many adventures. Genevieve was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Francine Dillon, and brother, Dominick Montanaro. She is survived by her sons, Joseph, and Michael and his wife, Denise; grandchildren, Caroline and Jackson Dillon; sister, Patricia Ziolkowski and her husband, Tom; brother, John Montanaro and his wife, Rose; niece, Deanna, and nephews, Tom, Robert and John, and countless cousins and extended family. A visitation and celebration of life for both Genevieve and her daughter Francine, who passed away peacefully on Oct. 13, was held at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township, on Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 4-8 PM. The funeral service for Genevieve and Francine took place at the funeral home on Nov. 4.
